Élysée

by Pierre Paulin

The first meeting between Pierre Paulin and Michel Roset in 2007 led to the successful launch of the Pumpkin sofas and armchairs, a reinterpretation of the seating furniture designed in 1971 for the painting salon of the private rooms of Georges and Claude Pompidou at the Élysée Palace in Paris. In this way, Ligne Roset not only fulfilled the wish of the then President Georges Pompidou, who had always wanted these pieces of furniture not to remain unique, but also honoured the work of Pierre Paulin, the great master of French design.

It therefore seemed natural for Maïa Paulin and Michel Roset to make the second set of seating furniture designed for the Élysée Palace by Pierre Paulin, namely the seating for the smoking room, available to a wider public. The Élysée sofa, armchair and stool have been faithfully reproduced by Ligne Roset using Pierre Paulin's archive plans.

Form and volume have been perfectly maintained, but comfort has been significantly improved thanks to the use of new padding materials and Ligne Roset's particular experience with foams.

Thanks to their compact dimensions, their clear form and their lightness, the Élysée armchairs can be perfectly integrated into the small rooms of many large city apartments.
