Elysée
by Pierre Paulin
The design of Claude and Georges Pompidou's private rooms in the Elysée Palace in 1971 became Pierre Paulin's most media-effective work, a true revolution for the furnishings of the French president's residence, so far ahead of its time that Valéry Giscard d'Estaing had it removed immediately after his election.
In 2008, Ligne Roset edited sofas, armchairs and stools for the first time in series production in close imitation of those that stood in the painting salon of the Elysée Palace from 1971 to 1974; thus not only fulfilling the wish of Georges Pompidou, but also honouring the work of Pierre Paulin. In 2011, Ligne Roset continued this commemorative work and for the first time mass-produced the serving table that then stood in the dining room of the Elysée Palace, in different versions with different numbers of tops.
