Lace

by Benjamin Graindorge

Benjamin Graindorge, 32, is one of the most talented French designers. After graduating from the Ensci School in Paris, he realised several interior architecture and design projects and has already received several awards, the Audi Talents Award, the Elle Deco International Design Award for young designers. Ligne Roset has already released his Courtoisie mirror, Bloomingbless vases, Folk chair and now the extraordinary Lace stool.

As with the previous projects, Benjamin Graindorge uses a familiar function to create a very unique and surprising product. For him, the details make the difference, which is obvious in the Lace stool: its shallow depth and downward tapering shape make it look particularly light; the cord running around it gives it personality and elegance. The designer, who is familiar with Japan, was probably inspired by Japanese shibari art. Lace works best in a row of several stools in different colours.
