Nils
by Didier Gomez
The name of the sofa Nils is a tribute to the little boy Nils Holgersson, the novel character by the writer Selma Lagerlöf, who criss-crossed the skies over Sweden on a goose in 1906. The back cushions are filled with down feathers.
Even though the components of the sofa seem to consist of different, simple rectangles - backrest, seat, armrests - these form a harmonious and balanced piece of seating furniture with generally low lines. The simplicity of the form is balanced by the distinctly soft feel and the fastidiously finished seams: The combination of single seams and borderless double seams on the body give NILS a couture look, elegant and casual at the same time, like a pair of fine jeans, while the double decorative seams on the back cushions provide a sophisticated counterpoint.
The single armchair with its own proportions shows character and is particularly light in appearance. The other elements of the Nils family, sofas, meridiennes, reclining sofas and stools, offer numerous design options: normal-sized sofas, oversized sofas consisting of two meridiennes put together, corner groups, combinations of meridiennes and reclining sofas, etc. The reclining sofa, with or without armrests, invites you to spend time together watching TV, reading or taking a nap.
