Ottoman
by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance
While working on a new hotel project in Marrakech two years ago, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance developed the idea for a new seating furniture in collaboration with Ligne Roset. Although the hotel project could not be realised, Michel Roset was convinced by the oriental, Moroccan-inspired charm of the design. Through his work on the quilting and the material and colour combinations, the designer has created a design with a special character.
Like Togo after other forerunners of Ligne Roset in solid foam, such as Kalo, Ottoman takes the typical round, sculptural and rather low shapes of other foam models and reinterprets them thanks to cleverly devised details. Form and finish combine Ligne Roset's core competencies in the development of full-foam models and the elaborate stitching of covers.
The foam core consists of separate stable cores for seat and backrest with different comfort pads made of Bultex polyurethane foam in matching densities. This material combination provides exceptional comfort and durability. The elaborate quilting in the inner part and the finely finished circumferential piping are best shown off by plain-coloured covers. The two-tone design of the edging and the inner part underlines the differently structured surface of the cover.
