Tanis

by Pierre Paulin

After his first success at the Paris exhibition Arts Ménagers (Houseware Fair) in 1953, Pierre Paulin began working with Thonet France in 1954, designing desks and chairs for them.

The design of the model ''CM 141'' also falls into this period. This model is still far away from the typical Paulin style, which developed in the 50s and 60s, with its round and organic shapes. The desk ''CM 141'', minimalist and functional, is still in the direct tradition of the Bauhaus.

Ligne Roset re-edited this desk in 2008 under the name Tanis. The original design is strictly adhered to, but the ''modest'' finish typical of the period is updated and enriched: The writing surface is in black Fenix NTM laminate, matching the lacquered base, and the drawer unit in walnut veneer.
