TV
by Pierre Paulin
At the beginning of the 1950s, Pierre Paulin decides to bring out his own designs with the help of his father; he exhibits under his own name for the first time in 1953 at the Paris Salon des Arts Ménagers (Housewares Fair) in the section ''Modern Household'' and shows a kind of ideal flat with the accompanying furniture for the living and dining room, including four upholstered wooden chairs.
Thanks to this first presentation, Pierre Paulin became known to professionals and a wider public; the magazine ''La Maison Française'' reproduced the dining room for its April 1953 issue and even showed the living room furniture in colour on the cover a few months later. Pierre Paulin then designed an advertising brochure, then tried to sell his furniture himself in a Parisian boutique on the Rue de Solferino, but soon gave it up. In 1954, he entrusted the edition of his furniture to the furniture company TV - Thevenin et Vecchione. The chair was given a frame of black lacquered tubular steel instead of the wooden frame and became the TV chair.
Ligne Roset now re-edits this chair in January 2009, underlining how young and up-to-date this original design by Pierre Paulin remains, in which the simplicity of the design competes with amazing comfort.
